What is Vaginal Atrophy?

Vaginal atrophy occurs when the body does not produce enough oestrogen. This most commonly occurs after menopause, but can also occur in the lead-up to menopause, after of the ovaries, or as a result of chemotherapy or hormonal treatments.

RenovaLase® eliminates the need for a long-term oestrogen programme to vaginal atrophy. Instead, a quick, safe, and non-invasive laser treatment stimulates the tissue’s own regenerative processes — improving hydration, tissue quality, and comfort without hormonal therapy.

Ideal Candidates for RenovaLase

You will be a suitable candidate for if you have symptoms of vaginal atrophy — dryness, thinning, irritation, or pain during intercourse — and wish to treat these without hormonal therapy.

You must be at least 18 years old. A current normal cervical smear (Pap test) is required before treatment can begin. Active vaginal infections must be resolved before proceeding.

If you are experiencing both vaginal dryness and laxity, RenovaLase and can be combined in the same treatment course.

What Does RenovaLase Involve?

For the majority of cases, three sessions of RenovaLase® at monthly intervals are sufficient to achieve noticeable results. No special preoperative preparations or postoperative precautions are necessary. You can immediately return to your normal everyday activities.

RenovaLase® is incisionless and virtually painless. No anaesthetic is required. You may feel mild warmth during the procedure and mild discomfort similar to mild sunburn for up to 48 hours after treatment. Avoid sexual activity for 72 hours after each session.

Annual maintenance sessions of one session per year are recommended after the course to long-term results.

What To Expect

Your consultation takes place at our Baker Street clinic. Our clinical team will take a full medical and gynaecological history, assess your of vaginal atrophy or dryness, and confirm whether RenovaLase is appropriate. A current normal cervical smear result is required before treatment can begin. Active vaginal infections must be resolved before proceeding. If you are experiencing both vaginal dryness and laxity, RenovaLase and IntimaLase can be combined in the same course. A written treatment plan and itemised cost are confirmed before you leave. £1,200 per session; £3,600 for a full course of three sessions.

No special preoperative are required for RenovaLase. No fasting is needed. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Ensure you have a current normal cervical smear result — treatment cannot without this. Active infections must be resolved before treatment begins. There are no restrictions on eating, drinking, or medication before your session.

RenovaLase takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes per session. No anaesthetic is required. A Fotona vaginal handpiece is introduced into the canal. Controlled laser pulses using the Fotona SMOOTH® mode deliver mild thermal energy to the vaginal mucosa, stimulating angiogenesis and new collagen production. You may feel a mild warming sensation during the procedure — this is normal and transient. Once complete, you can dress and leave immediately. No time is required. You may experience mild discomfort similar to mild sunburn for up to 48 hours after treatment. Avoid sexual activity for 72 hours after each session.

Improvement in symptoms is often noticed within a few days of the first session. Optimal results develop one to six weeks after treatment as new collagen forms. Clinical data shows that more than 95% of menopausal women experienced significant reduction in vaginal dryness, irritation, and pain during intercourse after RenovaLase. A full course of three at monthly intervals produces the most sustained . Results last more than a year. Annual maintenance sessions of one session per year are recommended. If vaginal laxity is also a concern, IntimaLase can be incorporated into your treatment course.
